At Home with Eskimo at SPIKE ISLAND
Having moved into our beautiful studio space, at Spike Island in November 2017, it is safe to say that Eskimo still has that warm fuzzy glow about being here. In fact, we love it!
For any of you unfamiliar with Spike Island, it is regarded as one of the most important cultural hubs within the city of Bristol. Bursting with creativity – It is a space where artists, writers, designers, and independent creative businesses can thrive in a supportive and innovative environment.
With a primary aim of keeping the artistic talents within the city confines and to providing an inspiring environment that people want to work in and visit. Considering that Bristol has just been voted the most artistic city in the UK, it would appear that they have conquered the challenges facing the creative sector (high rents, spiraling cost, and access to resources to name a few) and along with other organisations, to provide a platform for a truly immersive creative city, it’s safe to say, they are doing a pretty great job.
With an internationally regarded arts centre at its heart, Spike Island’s programme of contemporary and emerging art exhibitions celebrates the very best of modern art. This also includes series of talks, film screenings, and workshops, which aim to engage and involve visitors and to exchange skills.
